What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy uses the body as the guide for healing.
“Soma” means “living body.” Your body is a vast source of wisdom, as it has lived all your life experiences with you. Your body holds onto those experiences. Your body is your brilliant ally. Throughout your life, your body has done what it needs to do for you to survive. It knew how to do these things and did them without you having to ask.
Somatic therapy helps you understand what your body has been through. It guides you to learn your body’s language. Once you understand what your body is asking for, you can meet its needs with compassion.
During your customized somatic therapy sessions, you will learn how to strengthen your awareness and develop healthier ways of being in mind, body and spirit. A session may include body-mind movement, Transformative Touch and other healing modalities.

The sentiments of others can support your understanding. Read how Rachel’s clients describe somatic therapy:
“Somatic therapy has been completely life changing. I never knew what safety was within yourself and now I do. I know what my body is feeling and how to cope with what it is going through.”
“Somatic therapy / working with Rachel helped bring a ton of new awarenesses around why I have some behavioral patterns that I do, which again, helps bring more compassion into the picture. I was making new connections each session and gaining new awareness.”
“Other modalities asked me to focus on present day symptoms, or they tried to guide me into my painful past without giving me a foundation of safety and trust between me and the practitioner. Somatic therapy created a space that felt safe enough to look at my present and past in ways other therapies didn’t do.”
“Somatic Therapy has helped me find myself again when I didn’t really realize how long I have been missing.”
